COACHELLA VALLEY ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP - Economic Development
Following an abrupt resignation of the Chief Executive in late 2008, the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership executive board approached Kay Hazen to serve as interim CEO. The regional economic development organization was in debt and preparing to kick off a six-month planning effort for regional growth and development. The firm agreed to take on both challenges pro bono.
Because of more than twenty years spent working in the region with leaders in both the public and private sector, Hazen was able to quickly assess the situation, make recommendations and secure support to move them forward. Working with the board and committee leadership the organization was quickly stabilized, Blueprint Chairmen were identified and secured, the Steering Committee for the regional plan was expanded and the planning effort launched. Within six months paid staff was on board to guide operations and the Blueprint strategy was effectively launched with over 60% of the targeted investment committed.
